Dashiell Hammett Papers, 1923-1974.

The Dashiell Hammett papers comprise manuscripts, notes, and correspondence. Series I. includes drafts of short stories, several unpublished and some incomplete, along with drafts of The Thin Man, the film version of Watch on the Rhine, and the unfinished novels, The Secret Emperor and Tulip. Series II. contains letters written to various correspondents, including Lillian Hellman (1935-58) and Maggie Kober (1942-51).
